Technical Support:

Problem: Want to go to FDPB, can't think of a famous dead person to be.

Solution:

  • Think of your favorite person in history. Check to see if they're dead.
  • Read the newspaper. Check to see if someone famous died today.
  • Watch A&E's Biography tv show. Check to see if the subject is dead.
  • Watch gangster movies or westerns. Come as someone who gets rubbed out or a bad guy.
  • Look through books. Don't forget to check Shakespeare, Dickens, and mystery novels. Find someone who died in that book.
  • Browse through the Dead People Server. Choose from the long list of 20th century deaths.

Problem: Want to go to FDPB, can't figure out what to wear.

Solution:

  • Look inside your closet or the closet of a friend or family member. Suits can be worn for gangsters or politicians. Fancy dresses and tuxedos work for socialites or movie stars. Ruffled blouses are right for romantic poets and Victorian ladies. Leather jackets look good on rockers and rebels.
  • Look in your linen closet. White sheets can dress ancient Greek and Roman dead people.
  • Go to Goodwill or other secondhand clothing store. Long natural-colored caftans are appropriate for Biblical characters and Medieval figures. Gunne Sax type dresses work for Victorian woman writers. Hippie clothes can turn you into a dead rocker or activist. Military clothes turn you into a solider. Ball gowns and tuxedo jackets look like movie star garments.
  • Go to costume rental shop. Rent a historical costume from the era appropriate to your famous dead person. Take a look at this complete list of Bay Area rental stores.

Problem: Want to go to FDPB, have dead character, not sure if the character counts as "dead."

Solution:

  • If the character was even briefly dead, it counts. Resurrected characters are okay, as are the undead or ghosts.

Problem: Want to go to FDPB, have dead character, have costume, not sure what to bring.

Solution:

  • Bring at least one bottle of drink to share. Call the Help Desk for specific instructions on whether your configuration requires bringing non- or alcoholic drinks. All FDPB systems require a BYOB plug-in.
