Trystan wrote the ceremony with much input and assistance from Thomas. We both have very particular ideas about the ceremony, so we didn't want to leave the text to some stranger. This is also why we wanted a dear friend to be reading it, and we're really happy that James Thomas agreed to it. The full text is available here. Basically, it's a non-religious ceremony (absolutely no mentions of any god, thankyouverymuch!) that stresses the egalitarian nature of our relationship and the deep emotional connection we have nurtured for the past eight years. We incorperated elements of Trystan's Chinese and Thomas' Scottish ancestries with different symbolic acts, and two of the ceremony readings are poetry each of us has written, while the third will be from Dr. Seuss. We took pieces out of many different ceremonies and writings for inspiration. Here's a few links that were useful in Trystan's research:
