The Ceremony ~ Flowers

Bouquets: Our floral designer, Marilyn Kromrey, created tight nosegays of deep red Cara Mia roses, accented with heather, tied with wide ivory satin ribbon. The brideswomens' bouquets were the same as the bride's, just a little bit smaller.

Each bouquet had a hand-tied look, but all the flowers were wired into a plastic holder that was entirely covered by ribbon and a collar of dark galax leaves. They were all exactly what we wanted -- dramatic in color, but low-key in size and presence.

Boutonnieres: Marilyn used more deep red Cara Mia roses for the groomsmens' boutonnieres. The groom's boutonniere had two roses.

Examples: These are sample bouquet pictures, mostly culled from Martha Stewart's Weddings magazine, which we gave to Marilyn.

bouquetThese were the perfect colors for our darkly dramatic wedding. The heather and pepper berries are a lovely touch -- they really give the bouquet texture and dimension. Marilyn was going to include them in my bouquet, but the pepperberries weren't available by the time our wedding rolled around (which she had warned us might happen).

bouquet This was the size Trystan wanted for all the bouquets. No bigger! It seemed like all the other floral designers we talked to knew of nothing other than the gigantic, honkin' ol' monster bridal bouquet! Thankfully, Marilyn Kromrey actually listened to us, and our bouquets were just about this small, elegant size.
