The Recessional:
Eine Kleine Nachtmusik by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, 1787 (live)

Thomas chose several pieces he'd written over the years for the prelude music, while guests are being seated. He wrote a new work for the beginning of the processional, and he chose a piece he wrote for his grandfather's 80th birthday for the groom's and bride's walks down the aisle. For the recessional, we used the only non-original music of the hour -- Eine Kleine Nachtmusik by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Complete details are in the program notes.

We booked the San Jose String Quartet, made up of members of the San Jose Symphony, to play. Our friend Rich Thomas (a skilled audio engineer) recorded the quartet's performance for posterity. The quartet was to be accompanied by a CD of the pieces that require a full orchestra or piano, but because they arrived late and had to do a sound-check with Rich, the recorded pieces weren't played. This was rather unfortunate, since Thomas had spent a lot of time re-recording these works in time for the wedding.
