No blood tests required in CA anymore, but we did have to apply in person at the County Clerk/Recorder's Office before the wedding, and our officiant had to file it the week after the wedding.

At the rehearsal, we had our officiant, James, and our best people, Irina and Mike, sign the marriage license. We needed a photocopy of it to get the free Royal Dolton china from Sandals (our honeymoon spot), so we post-dated it for Sunday, on Saturday, then took it home to scan and print. Then we popped it in a stamped envelope and gave it to James at the rehearsal dinner. Technically, we were married as of about 2:30pm on Saturday, March 25, 2000!
