This is the list we gave to our DJ, King Raffi for what to play (and not to play) during the reception. We really wanted romantic, upbeat music that our friends could dance to, plus some classic rock for the baby boomers. Probably 75% of our guests were early 30s or under, with the rest boomer age, and about six senior citizens. So this music mix pleased most everybody!
What Not to Play:
nothing negative, no downers (no "Tainted Love")
no disco, rap, R&B, soul, hip hop, or country
no cheese (such as "YMCA," "Love Shack," etc.)
Music During the Meal:
classical
ambient stuff like Dead Can Dance & Cocteau Twins
maybe a little jazz/swing/standards
