When is the rehearsal? The wedding rehearsal is Saturday, March 25, at 1pm, at the Capital Club (printable map here). It'll probably take an hour. All members of the wedding party are requested to attend, and you are welcome to bring your significant others too. We will have details written up for everyone, including seating arrangements.
When and where is the rehearsal dinner? The rehearsal dinner will, of course, be the night of the rehearsal, starting at 6pm. It will be an Indian buffet at the Taj Palace Restaurant in south San Jose. The wedding party and your significant others, immediate family, and out-of-town guests will be invited. Thomas' mother, Mary Lord, is in charge of the dinner and will issue invitations by email. If you have not replied to her invitation yet, please do so asap so she can give an accurate head-count to the restaurant! Directions and a map to the rehearsal dinner are on this separate, more printer-friendly page.
Where do we get dressed for the wedding? Everyone will be getting dressed on their own, at home, the hotel, or wherever you are staying on Saturday night. Please arrive at the Capital Club entirely ready for pictures. Everyone please, please, please try on your complete outfit before the wedding day!!! This is really important. If there are any problems with your outfit, make sure to resolve them before the morning of March 26th. Guys -- try on your whole rental outfit as soon as you pick it up from the store. Heck, see if you can try it on in the store! That way, if they gave you the wrong size, you can exchange it immediately. We can't stress how important this is! Last-minute outfit problems can delay the whole wedding.
What's the schedule like for the Big Day? We recently emailed everyone a painfully detailed schedule for the wedding day. Also, we have a draft of the schedule here -- please note that the website schedule may not be as up-to-date as what we email you. There is also a schedule of pre-wedding events here.
What do you need me to do during the ceremony? Walk slowly, then stand there and look pretty! Oh, and ladies get to hold stuff for Trystan too, and at least two of you can hold the rings. Thrills, huh?
What do you need me to do during the reception? Dance and be social! We want to make sure everyone is having a good time, so we need all of you to be deputy hosts for the afternoon. Encourage people to sign the guestbook, ask people to dance, help people use the disposable cameras, make sure Thomas and Trystan eat and drink something, dance, remind people that the bar is open, keep an eye on the gift table, pass along requests to the DJ, dance, remind Trystan to apply more lipstick, run interference if anything goes wrong, smile, laugh, talk to people, check to make sure Thomas' thistle earrings are straight, dance, and generally be the fun-loving silly old you we know and love!
Other tips for the wedding party: Thankfully, these ideas from The Knot aren't as stuffy and clichéd as similar articles from hardcore etiquette mavens. These are more like handy tips and things that would be awfully sweet to do, but are certainly not required!
